Meet Nikki…
Registered Psychologist
Board Approved Supervisor
EMDR Association of Australia Accredited Practitioner
Hello and welcome!
Nikki (she/her) is passionate about all things psychology. Having worked in helping professions since 2008, she still gets excited about the work, about meeting new people and providing them a pathway to an improved quality of life. Nikki is proud of her origins in community mental health outreach, disability, and alcohol and other drugs. These roles grounded her work in the very human experience of what it means to struggle, try to cope, and to desire change. Nikki is treatment-focused, with a particular interest in trauma-based presentations. Although eclectic in her approach to tailor treatment to the individual, Nikki’s primary framework is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Nikki takes a respectful and non-judgemental approach of all people regardless of history, ethnicity or culture, subculture, LGBTIQA+, neurodiversity, internal system structure, and the intersectionality of any/all of the above. Read more about Nikki HERE.
Nikki offers: Individual Therapy, and Supervision both individually and in groups to clinicians. More information HERE.
My Guiding Principles…
-
The therapeutic journey can be challenging. My role as therapist is to tune-in to where you are at, and create a space where you feel comfortable-enough to be you.
-
You are the expert in you. I believe you already have everything in you needed to achieve your goals. My job is to work with you to help you see your strength and skills, and harness them. The EMDR framework is a beautifully placed therapy to help you achieve this.
-
I firmly believe in using psychology as treatment. The best long term outcomes don’t come from focusing on the day-to-day, but honing in on where the challenges began. My goal is to provide sessions with purpose that will take you closer to achieving your goals so you can graduate from therapy and get on with enjoying life.
-
Hope is the single most important ingredient to therapy and life. If you don’t feel like you have hope, I will carry it for the both of us until you can feel it again.
